Energy-Efficient Remodeling – Make smart decisions to get the most “bang for your buck” when you remodel your home or commercial building
Where do you start when you want to remodel your house or commercial building? Which improvements will give you the best return on your investment? And how can you ensure that aesthetic and functional improvements save you money in the long run?
In this class we explore strategies for energy-efficient remodeling, which is the most challenging — and critical — part of the green building field. We look at the key components of remodeling projects, such as windows, walls, roofs, heating and ventilation, insulation, and how to tighten up the “building envelope”. We also look at advances in building technology and materials, and how to incorporate active and passive solar into your home or commercial building. Find out what mistakes to avoid, how much various improvements cost, and what green builders, energy raters, and other experts suggest.
